So You Want To Work With A Business Coach

Working with a business coach has taught me so much more about myself. Here are some things I wish I knew before I started to work with a coach.

  1. Be super clear about who you are and what you have to offer. If you don't know the answer to this, it'll take you longer to reach your goals. I would recommend working with a mindset coach before going into business coaching, but if you can find someone that does both, do that. If you aren't clear on what you have to offer, or what type of business you'd like to have, you'll continue to pivot and change while you are building. If you are ok with that, roll with the punches!

  2. Research. You want your coach to have success in the area that you are interested in pursuing. You wouldn't Hire a fitness coach that didn't have results you wanted to achieve, so the best thing is to work with someone that knows the industry you are looking to break into.

  3. work with someone that looks like you. I cannot stress how important this is. While i'm all for diversity and inclusion, there are some experiences that someone who looks like you can "be real" and give you the honest truth.

  4. Know your weak points. If your coach will be giving you assignments, and you're working five jobs just to keep the lights on, when and where will you have the time to implement your assignments? Get you're money right ahead of time. Working with a coach is an investment, beyond time and money - its a team effort helping and guiding you to get you to where you want to be.

  5. Ask less questions and do more. I am curious my nature and it gets in the way of my implementation. A lot of the process requires testing and pivoting. When you've found something that works, you should repeat it to ensure you've found your pattern for success.

  6. trust that you're best interest is at heart. It should never be about someone wanting you're money. simply put, Do what you're told.

  7. be aware of the roller coaster that happens. while social media preaches success, success success, its not like that everyday.

  8. practice gratitude. this has been a game changer for me.
