Hurt people, hurt people
I read this book sometime last year and I took a quote and made it my Facebook status.
Christ obtained the church by his blood.and formed a new covenant with her. Marriage exists for Gods glory - that is it exists to display God. It exists to put the covenant of Christ and the church on display. That is why marriage exists. Christ will never leave his wife. Staying married is not about staying in love. It's about keeping covenant- till death due us part or as long as we both shall love. It's a sacred covenant promise. The same one Christ did for his bride when he died for her. What makes divorce and remarriage so horrific in Gods eyes is not that it merely reveals covenant breaking to the spouse but that IT involves MISREPRESENTING CHRIST AND HIS COVENANT. Christ will never leave his wife. Ever. There may be times of distance and tragic back sliding on our part. It puts the glory of Christ's covenant keeping Love on display. It's about telling the truth with our lives... John Piper, This Momentary Marriage
I've witnessed far too much pain and suffering within near and distant family and friends hurting one another, causing pain to each other. It leaves me questioning - what's the point? I walked into the apartment today and received devistating news and heard my mom crying - wailing even. I took the time out to pray with both her and my sister. We are all In search of healing.
