Guys and Their Sports

Guys and their sports...They get so emotional when they lose. They scream and shout at the TV, they sulk when the team they are rooting for doesn't make the winning shot. What's the big deal?Professional ball players will still make their money even if sitting on the bench. If anyone should be upset it should be the players - but even then, at the end of the day it's still a game.I do think it's interesting to see just how emotionally invested men can be in something like a sport. I know my boyfriend who is a big sports fan is always making great analogies about life using sports. In contrast, when I was in high school I ran track and field. If we didn't win we knew to try harder the next time. It doesn't make sense to run off to the sidelines and put up a big tantrum like a two-year old. You'll get memes made of you with terrible facial expressions. Besides, we teach younger children that they have to "take an L like a champ". The examples of some recent sports players haven't taken losses very well. What should the younger children and fans take from that? What example are they being taught to follow?Better yet, do the players get a fine for such poor behavior upon losing in a game? We talk about true sportsmanship and characteristics that these players have, we get to see them make deals with corporations, and brands, we get to see their life, families and friends. I believe the way we react to things is important. We need to know how to practice restraint. Yet perhaps thats just part of the game. You put on a show when you reach a touch down, you throw a tantrum when you don't win, its all part of the game. Maybe a fella can let me know in the comments below. Why do you get so worked up? Especially when your not the one on the field, court - wherever the sport is played.
