A Year of Focus and Challenges

This year is a year of focus and challenging myself with growth.

With that I decided to do something greatly different and make a video about my 2017 goals. I then published it on youtube.

I’ve been watching youtube videos for nearly ten years. I’ve watched DIY, Hair Videos, technical videos, tutorials - theres so much I’ve watched and consumed and its time I move from a consumer of videos to a creator.

I didn’t know what to say so I commented on another you tubers video and she told me to talk about my 2017 goals. Right now I am sitting in HLS restaurant in Maplewood, NJ and after writing this post I’ll be editing the video.

I’ve made a few videos in the past talking about my hair and a little about my weight loss goals. But I wasn’t consistent - nor was I confident of putting myself out there. I’m still working on the many mental barriers I have and I believe its best to continue working on them one at a time.

As a matter of fact I believe this is part of the reason why so many people fail at new years resolutions. You’ve waited all year to get right and your expecting change to come in one day. We forget the change takes time to adapt to. Self discipline is probably one of the most difficult things to master. We would rather give into our immediate desires. We lack patience to see the changes take place.

We forget that it takes time to form a habit and while New Years is a great time to start something fresh and new - each day is a new day to start fresh. Don’t take that for granted.

I think I stalled so long to starting a youtube video because I was way too worried about other peoples opinions. Yet the older I get the more I begin to realize it makes absolutely no sense in allowing other peoples opinions stop you from what you’d like to accomplish in life - Especially people that don’t know you personally.

I’ve got a lot to learn, and I enjoy learning, teaching… I love the person I’m becoming and each day I’m enjoying being myself authentically. If I can teach and inspire through social media, use these tools for good - then I know that I am fulfilling my purpose. There’s no sense in looking back saying, “I wish I would have”.

So want to watch my video? Be sure to come back and check out this post because I’l leave a link here.

Mini Update: I finished editing it only to corrupt the file because I pulled the plug out my phone. Go Me! I'm headed home to re-record and hopefully it wont be too noisy at home.

final update... here's the link.
