Guilty Pleasures and Design Thinking

I love watching youtube videos. I enjoy videos about hair, makeup and DIY videos. More recently I've been searching for ways to get inspiration about design, the tools to use and it got me thinking: Use my guilty pleasure of video indulgence to find more about design thinking, design research and how to be a better designer.I was listening to a podcast and it finally clicked,

"Creativity requires hard word, iteration and discipline."

Most people lack discipline. I lack Discipline. Its difficult to show up and write EVERY single day and to keep the focus on design thinking. I've lost count on how many times I've wanted to quit. And yes today was another day in which I wanted to quit. It's easy to come up with different ideas and see how the principles of design thinking merge within. The difficulty comes in iterating in public. In showing the process - the details of the work. It's easy to talk about the thing I want to do, rather than close out all distractions and focus on the task at hand.Today is no different.I set out to get a laundry list of things done. So far I am half way through my first task. And the day is about half way done. Wishing for more time wont bring that to me. I know I need to take action, take inventory of the things I enjoy doing and things that I don't enjoy doing.I also need to set clearer goals that I'd like to accomplish. The thought of stopping short of my daily posting after completing 94 days saddens me. However, I know I need to create and get my hands dirty.OpenIDEO has challenges to get involved in and thus far thats the best place to "get my hands dirty".
