Design Thinking: Post Thanksgiving Thoughts

I've gotten to stuff my self with a good share of turkey, stuffing, Mac and cheese, corn bread, ribs, rice, and all sorts of sides, deserts and sweets. And I think I'm done for the weekend. No seriously I'm going to fast the next few days. I thought about what comes next, the rush for consumerism and products on sale. Many people sat around the table and said their thanks and have since rushed off to places like Best Buy, Target, and Walmart for "Black Friday deals". It's not the old days where you went to bed on a full stomach and rushed out super early to shop. Or the tradition I had, which was to watch a movie with my older cousin after eating. A few houghts began to go through my mind. I realize design Thinking is about asking the right questions and coming up with as many iterations until you find the right solution. Here's a few questions running through my mind:

  • How can companies reshape the "Black Friday" experience?
  • How can companies ensure the safety of their consumers on Black Friday?
  • How can companies prove they aren't in a "race to the bottom"?
  • What other ways can companies incentivize shopping without disrupting the family dinner experience?

These were a few questions running through my mind. I hope this causes someone out there to change the trend.
